Secretary’s Report: The minutes from the last meeting
were not available. There was no correspondence.
Treasurer’s Report: The Treasurer’s Report was presented.
Nathan Porter motioned to accept the report, Alicia Smith seconded. Kathy
Hermanson is Treasurer-elect and she will meet with former Treasurer Robert
Fulghum to go over matters necessary to make the transition. Doc requested a
list of those students who have not paid their uniform dry-cleaning fees so the
funds can be collected.
Fundraisers: The Laser Tag event did not
work out. There were not enough tickets sold to get exclusive reservation of
the facility. The event was cancelled and refunds were distributed. We
discussed the reason for the failure – event was on a weeknight? Cost too high
for students? Busy time of year? We may try to have
the event again during Spring Break, although some parents are concerned that
families will be traveling. BACH will survey the students for input.
Great Video Productions: Kathy presented the flyer handout
schedule. There are still a few spots open on the schedule for Friday afternoon
and Saturday
Mardi Gras Day: The Methodist Churches started Katrina
Recovery program to send groups to
Yard Sale: The Booster’s Yard Sale is planned
for February. We have a storage unit for items in closed boxes. There is no
space for large items. BACH will announce a donation day for students/parents
to bring items to school for the sale. We will ask Lindsay Komlos to make a
mass email announcement for the Yard Sale when a date is set, and ask for
donations.
Coupon Event: The Coupon Book sales event is set
for February. Francine will contact the company to assure that books are
available in time for the Yard Sale. Money made during the sale will go into
individual accounts for those students that sell them. Money for books sold by
the company will go into the General Fund.
BACH: BACH wants to sell candy canes/candy
grams on Monday. Doc advises that they need approval from the Student Council.
Candy canes will be $1.00 with message, to be delivered to friends. Doc will
follow up with BACH to be sure proper procedure is followed.
Other Possible Fundraisers: Ideas were briefly discussed for
other fundraising – ColdStone Creamery tip night was
investigated by Alicia Smith. The office has not returned her call. Deer Valley
HS has a fundraiser night at Outback Steakhouse that we could check into. The
Sugar Bowl and Harkins Theaters have fundraising events. Shani
Whormes-Smith works at Harkins and will check into
their program.
Business:
Spring Trip: The Spring Concert Band trip has been
approved by the district and is set for
Jackets: The first shipment of band jackets
has arrived. Another order will be placed tomorrow. All but 8 people have paid
for the first order. Jackets are $50.00 with name embroidered on the front. We
get $6.00 per jacket.
State Tax Credit: Donations can be made to the school
with designation for the Band program through December 31. Saguaro HS is
contacting parents to encourage donations. They also have donation forms on
their website with special fundraiser categories to choose from. We may
consider something like this for future.
Donation: $10.00 was left over after refunding
money for laser tag. It is not known where the extra come from. It will be
donated to the General Fund.
Activities:
Winter Concert: The
concert is Tuesday night at
