Fundraisers:

Guest: Kay Wiese, sister of Kathy Komlos was our guest. Kay has offered to head fundraising efforts for the band. She will be approaching local and national companies soliciting donations for our non-profit organization. Kay read a letter she has prepared and shared an information packet she plans to send out to potential sponsors. She asked for suggestions and input from the board and was given contact information. The board made a few changes to the letter, but gave the go-ahead for the solicitation of sponsors.

Albertson’s Community Partners Program: No new information.

ASU Graduation: ASU Graduation is May 8 – 10, 2008, not the dates previously announced. The times are the same. Boosters, parents and students are encouraged to sign up to hand out fliers for Great Video Productions.

Restaurant nights: Sweet Tomatoes fundraiser night had a good turnout. The check is on its way. There will be another one on April 8.

Graduation:  Graduation water and flower sales by the Boosters have been confirmed.

Business:

Spring Tour:  The Spring Concert Tour to San Diego will be in April. Doc wants to hold a meeting for all students, parents and chaperones. Details will be announced later. Wind Ensemble and Percussion Ensemble will be performing. Jazz Band will not be going. All but 3 students have paid the final payment for the tour. P.O.’s have cleared and fees are paid. Attendees will need to pay for 3 meals. All other meals are included. Doc and Dede Powers are preparing the Tour packet for distribution to students.

Spring Concert:  There will be a Spring Concert in mid- to late May.

Awards Ceremony: Details for the Awards Ceremony have not been finalized. We are considering a pot-luck dinner. Doc has received the Sousa awards. Letters and shields need to be ordered and engraving needs to be done on senior plaque.

Storage: No new information.

Band Camp: We still need a site for Camp this summer. Doc spoke to Mr. Biera and told him Camp Mingus was only available the week of teacher in-service. Six chaperones will be needed, they will pay the same rate minus bus and equipment truck fees. 64 students have signed up for Marching Band. Band was the only CHS Performing Arts department to increase in size from last year. Doc would like to have 1 or 2 payments for Camp made before the end of the school year.

Marching Band 2008-2009:  Doc has started the calendar for next year. We will attend 2 away Football games, Greenway and Arcadia. We expect to receive the competition schedule on April 12. The show and drill are reserved at Marching Show Concepts – Fiddler on the Roof was chosen as the show. Doc would like to have the long ranger repaired for use on the field next year. New practice field is only 80 yards and not regulation width, so may be a problem for marching rehearsal. Doc is trying to arrange leadership training for interested students.
