Announcements:  Deadlines for this month: Permission slips are due 9/12/2007; Shoe/Glove payments are due 9/19/2007. Remember to encourage family and friends to donate to the State Tax Credit program- If every student gets 2 people to donate $200.00 and designate it for the band, we would have $20,000.00 for the Band every year! Employers may match your contribution!

Secretary’s Report:  (Posted on the website)

Dede Powers moved to accept the July minutes. Becky Ingram seconded. The motion passed.

John Komlos motioned to accept the August minutes. Beck Ingram seconded. The motion passed.

Treasurer’s Report:

The Treasurer’s report was presented. Kathy Hermanson noted that we had overpaid for Band Camp and the Boosters will be getting $700.00 back. The Tax Credit account will be getting $3,000.00 back. Becky Ingram motioned to accept the Treasurer’s Report. Alicia Smith seconded. The motion passed.

Fundraisers:

A. Two couples have participated in the Simple Fundraiser resort/timeshare presentation. Qualified couples attending a sales presentation earn money for the Boosters and gift cards for themselves. Participating resorts include The Legacy Golf Resort in Phoenix, Sedona Pines Resort in Sedona and Sunterra and Myan Palace Resorts in Rocky Point, Mexico.

Coupon Books:  There are still coupon books available for sale.  The expiration date for the coupons is 3/31/08. All money earned is divided between the Boosters and the student; students get 100% of money for every book sold over twenty.

Sodexo: Sodexo has requested our help for the fall ASU football concessions. We have offered to do a food stand. Students and their families earn money for their student accounts by helping serve food at ASU home football games. Games are 9/15, 9/22, 9/29, 10/13, 10/27, 11/22. We will also help at the Insight Bowl on 12/31/07. A minimum of 6 people are needed per game. Check in time is usually 4 pm. Workers must wear khaki pants, a white shirt and closed-toe shoes. For information or to sign up, contact Becky Ingram at 480-947-1820.

Home Football Concessions: For Coronado home football game concessions, we are working with the PTO and the Football Boosters. After the first game, each group is getting $317.00 after expenses. We have not needed to use the generator, but are able to run equipment on the power supply at the stand. The Boosters need to provide 4 volunteers for this Friday’s game. Please report to the concession stand at 5 pm.

Community Partners:  Although the chain no longer requires shopper’s cards, Albertson’s tells us they will continue to offer the Community Partners fundraiser. We will be issued a new number and new cards. There was no response to our inquiry about the program.

Scottsdale Fall Festival: The city is holding their annual Fall Festival on Halloween night at El Dorado Park. The Boosters have applied again this year to set up a stand selling popcorn and cotton candy. Officials report there is a limited availability for food vendors and will notify us in 2 weeks if our application is approved.

Business:

Polo Shirts: Many Booster members have inquired about Booster T-Shirts. Bob Ingram contacted Alex, who we have worked with in the past for prices, but he has not responded yet. It will take 4-6 working days to deliver the shirts once we place the order.

Storage Unit: Bob Ingram checked to see if we could permanently place a cargo storage unit on campus to allow us to end our use of the paid off-campus storage unit we are now using. He found a company that will sell us one for $2200.00 including paint, leveling and installation. We would add interior shelving. The unit would give us easier access and cost less in the long run. Waiting for OK from Mr. Biera.

Dues:  Dues must be paid by October 9. Dues are $5.00 per person and must be paid in order for member to vote in the Board election in November.

Nomination Committee: Francine Porter will head the Nomination Committee for the Booster Executive Board for 2008-2009. So far the following people have agreed to be placed on the ballot: Bob Ingram-Member-at-Large, Kathy Hermanson-Treasurer, Kathy Komlos-Secretary, Alicia Smith-Member-at-Large, Nathan Porter-President.

Banderama: We are trying to get approval for the annual Banderama night on 10/26. This is the night the Dons Band hosts the elementary and middle school bands from the schools which feed Coronado. The combined bands perform at halftime.

Events: The Band will be performing at away football games 9/28 at Glendale High and 10/12 at Tempe High.  The Mountain Pointe Marching Invitational is 9/29 and the Gilbert Marching Festival is 10/13.

Spring Concert Tour: Doc is looking for trip possibilities for Spring with the help of BACH. Also looking for a site for the Winter concert since the Auditorium will not yet be complete.

Uniforms: The marching uniforms have been cleaned. Mastel is generously cleaning them for $3.00 each. There are still students who have not paid their cleaning fee.

Lockers: Doc has contacted a local company to provide 175 locks for the Band Room that Doc would have a key for. The fee of $800.00 will come from Doc’s activity fund.

Website:  It has been suggested that we add the following information to the Band website: Weekly updates, Photo of the week (need permission to post?), Section of the week, email update and a BACH page.

Becky Ingram motioned to adjourn the meeting. Kathy Hermanson seconded. Motion passed.
