From Doc

Thank you for the surprise birthday party
Next few weeks will be very busy.  Jazz Band has been asked to play at the opening for Sky Song.  Doc is still working out the details.  April 29th, set up is at 5:00pm, dedication is at 6-6:30pm, Jazz band plays 5:30-6 and 6:30-7pm.

Spring concert May 5 rehearsal Monday 4/27, 6-8 pm.

Band Awards Banquet May 14th, Doc has ordered letters and certificates.  Francine ordered the plaques.

Drum Major camp is 4/20-4/24 3-4:30PM each day.

Spring concert and graduation are required attendance.

New uniforms have arrived and are still in their shipping boxes and will stay in the boxes until the band room is complete.

Doc will collect used white shoes so students will not have to purchase 2 pair of shoes, as the new uniforms will require black shoes.

Justine Covert will be next years percussion instructor.  No salary discussion yet.  Angela Kredo will instruct the Pit.  There is a question on district approval, Doc will follow up.

Doc has a color guard instructor in mind who will do all of the choreography, teaching and flag design for $2000.  Doc has 7 possible students for guard already.  Would be a plus for us if we are division 2.

The show for next year is called  "Pyramids of Egypt"

Photo/fundraiser Zach Kessler's grandfather may be able to take the photos and develop them at Costco.  We would sell by the sheet at $10 each.  1- 8X10, 2 5X7 and 4 3X5s.
Dina suggested we start a change drive.  Where kids would be asked to put their spare change in a 5 gallon jug to raise money for the spring tour.  Jug would be kept in Doc's office.  Wells Fargo will count change for a $10 fee.

Doc showed the new uniform.  They are bar coded so we can utilize the CHARMs software to track.  They have dark pants to minimize errors seen by judges.  If the marching is clean, Doc may allow them to wear the white pants with the new jackets.  Shakos are the same except they have an eagle in the front.  Black gloves, shoes and socks will be worn with the new uniform.

Charms
Melinda discussed the software program and its Paypal feature.  It allows payments on line.  It was suggested that we increase fees by 75 cents to cover the Paypal fees of 3%.  It is difficult to track otherwise.  Is it worth it, further investigation and discussion is needed.

Band Camp

Trying to keep food fee at $25.00 based on 75 kids.  or they can bring their own lunch.  Doc may have to go to teacher's in service on Thursday and Friday.  Need to get water/sports drinks.  Doc is encouraging the kids to bring camel backs for water.  Doc may try to contact Scott Lange to do a session with the band.

Doc's goal is to have the spring tour trip planned by the second week of school.
