G
Mandee Sprigs introduced a Fundraising idea with Bright Beans Coffee. Company
owner Mario explained that Bright Beans is a Fair Trade,
Kosher company that directly supports a Costa
Rican coffee plantation and its workers. Beans are locally
roasted and packaged with custom labeling
available. Currently working with Chaparral HS and SUSD. We
can sell ground or whole bean coffee for $12.99
per pound, our cost is $6.99 per pound. Can also sell hot
coffee by the cup at games and other functions. Bright
Beans will provide brewing equipment and instruction. Will
also provide point of sale information explaining
company goals and benefits. Also available to sell online by
drop ship or pick up. Contact is
Mandee@BrightBeanscoffee.com . Doc suggested also selling hot chocolate.
Bright Beans will provide giant
thermos' for games, we provide water, cups, creamer, sugar.
Discussed having a beverage stand on each side of
the field as well as at concession stand. Made plans to sell
by the cup at first 2 playoff games. May sell at winter
concert, future games, put link on website. Bright Beans will
bring 15 lbs coffee for this Friday night to be sold
at 3 stands. 10 gallons of coffee will make 200 cups. Will
sell for $1.00 per cup. Will have 10 12oz bags of ground
coffee (labeled with Don's Band and crest) for sale.
Football Concessions
coffee. Also need people to state if they are willing
to help with set up and clean up. We also discussed asking
the PTO and Sports Boosters to learn how to operate the
cotton candy and popcorn machines to relieve us as
needed next season.
Kudzu:
No new
information. John will contact Alex.
December Fund Raiser
section be responsible for donating a themes basket which is
collectively worth $50.oo. Guests will be able to buy
tickets and vote for the best basket at the concert by
putting their tickets in the appropriate box. Each basket
will be given away in a drawing. $1.00 donation per ticket.
There will be a pizza party for the section with the
winning basket.
Also
discussed: Anyone who has given a Tax Credit Donation during the drive could be
given priority seating
at the concert. Tax credit donations could also be made at
the concert. Forms will be provided.
Other:
Mr.
Olson notified us that 50/50 Raffles are forbidden and considered gambling.
Nathan Porter contacted
other SUSD Booster groups. Some are doing it, some are not.
May try to contact new school board members for
support and reconsideration because its a good fundraiser.
Final decision may lie with the legal department.
Sahuaro and Chaparral conduct the raffles with the
permission of their Principals and submission of an
activity permit. Desert Mountain Boosters are raffling off a
Toyota Prius hybrid car and other cash prizes for
$20.00 per ticket.
E-Board Election:
We will vote tonight for the 2009-2010 Executive Board of
the Coronado Band Boosters. We introduced the
candidates and discussed rules. No 2 people in the same
household may have check signing authority. The
Komlos's are up for Vice President and Secretary, and
the Secretary does not traditionally have this authority
anyway and would not need it.
Voting was held
by written ballot. Results:
Pres: Mlee Martineau
VP: John Komlos
Treas: Melinda Contreras
Secr: Kathy Komlos
Members at Large: (Vote for 3)
Keith Martineau, Judy Edmonson, Joyce Yeager
ASU Concessions/Student Accounts:
Many students have requested
balances of student accounts. Asked Kathy Hermanson to provide a list of
account balances. Invoices will be sent out and will continue
to be sent on a monthly basis.
Sodhexo's rules are
changing all the time, making it more difficult for the boosters to provide
people to work
ASU games. We will work the next 2 games. We will not
work the Insight Bowl. We will not renew next year.
We will find other fundraisers for the student accounts.
Misc
There will be no Spring Tour in 2009 due
to the economic slowdown. Doc may try to plan a Disneyland
Turnaround trip tied into a leadership activity as a reward
for the band's hard work this fall.
Coronado
staffer Mr. Enriquez has been a great help this fall getting ice and
water for us for our activities.
Francine Porter motioned that we spend $40.00 to buy him a
gift card to Michael's as he always buys face
paint for the games. James Mitchell seconded. The motion
carried. BACH will also try to buy him a Band
Jacket with his name embroidered on it.
Five students have expressed interest in trying out for Regional Band.
Doc
reported that the new Band Uniform prototype has been ordered. The new
uniform will be completely
different from the red/white we've known in the past. There
is no stripe on the pants. Pressure from judges and
students has led to the decision for no white pants. There is
still a crest on the jacket. Shakos are the same with
a taller plume.
Due to new
funding from the Rotary Club, the school is providing new shelving and racks
with rods for our
uniform room! Classy Closets has made a bid and we are
waiting for District approval. Doc has also asked for
new CHARM Software program which will aid us in
keeping track of student accounts, instrument
inventory and has other great features. Cost is $650.00 for
first 3 years, $450.00 for next 3 years. Doc is also
trying to get the long ranger speaker system repaired.
Doc expressed thanks to the Boosters for their support.
